About

A biokineticist is your bridge back to full function.

Biokinetics is a health profession registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. It sits at the final phase of rehabilitation — the point where pain has settled and the real work of rebuilding strength, mobility and endurance begins.

My approach starts with listening. Before any exercise is prescribed, I assess how you move, where you are limited and what you actually want to get back to — whether that is picking up a grandchild without pain, returning to the rugby field, or simply getting through a working day with energy left over.

From there we build a programme that fits your life in Parys and the surrounding Vredefort Dome area: practical, progressive and reviewed as you improve.

Services

How I can help

Every service begins with a full assessment, so the programme you leave with is genuinely yours.

Orthopaedic rehabilitation

Structured recovery after injury or surgery — knees, shoulders, hips, backs and ankles — restoring strength and range of motion safely.

Chronic disease management

Exercise therapy for hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity and cardiac rehabilitation — medicine you can take on your own two feet.

Posture & back care

For desk workers, drivers and anyone living with nagging neck or lower-back pain. Correct the pattern, not just the symptom.

Sport & performance

Pre-season screening, strength and conditioning, return-to-play testing and injury prevention for school, club and social athletes.

Health & fitness assessments

Body composition, blood pressure, flexibility, muscular strength and cardiovascular fitness — a clear baseline and a plan to improve it.

Healthy ageing & falls prevention

Balance, bone density and functional strength work for older adults who want to stay independent and steady on their feet.

Who I help

You don't have to be an athlete to benefit.

Most of the people I see are simply trying to get back to something — work, sport, sleep without pain, or a body that feels like their own again. If any of these sound familiar, biokinetics can help.

Testimonials

In their own words

What patients say after working through a programme.

Questions

Frequently asked

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No. You are welcome to book directly. That said, if you are recovering from surgery or managing a diagnosed condition, a referral letter or medical report helps me build a safer, better-targeted programme.

Can I claim from my medical aid?

Biokinetics is a recognised HPCSA-registered profession and most medical aids cover sessions, often from a savings or chronic benefit. Cover varies by plan, so please confirm with your scheme before your first visit.

What is the difference between a biokineticist and a physiotherapist?

A physiotherapist manages the acute phase — pain, swelling and early healing. A biokineticist takes over in the final phase, using exercise to rebuild strength, function and long-term resilience so the problem does not return. The two professions work well together.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your condition and goals. Rehabilitation programmes typically run six to twelve weeks with one or two sessions a week; chronic condition management is often an ongoing relationship. I will give you an honest estimate after your assessment.

What should I wear and bring?

Comfortable exercise clothing and closed shoes you can move in. Bring your ID, medical aid card, any relevant scans or reports, and a list of your current medication.

I'm very unfit. Is this still for me?

Especially so. Every programme starts where you actually are — not where you think you should be. There is no minimum fitness required to begin.
